A native of Washington DC, Katherine Banning was educated from an early age to savor the delicate themes of John Keats and WB Yeats. At 16, she stumbled across the National Gallery of Art's "Treasure Houses of Britain" exhibit which spurred her into a lifelong pursuit of knowledge about Britain's history and culture. The following summer while visiting Great Britain, Katherine was overcome with admiration for its blend of cultures, stunning landscapes, and historical richness, and immediately began planning her emigration to the UK. At 19, she moved to Dublin, Ireland, where she lived in a Georgian townhouse in the lush and leafy Rathgar area. During this time, she studied British and Irish Literature, Art History, Classical and Landscape Architecture, and Cultural History. She spent time in Irish Castles, Historic House Museums and Trinity College, and traveled to England frequently for visits to London's Historic Royal Palaces. Currently living in the US, Katherine is a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation (US), the National Trust (UK), as well as English Heritage, and the Royal Oak Society. She plans to graduate from Eckerd College with a degree in Museum Studies in 2008, and hopes thereafter to earn her Master of Arts in Museum Studies and Historic Preservation. |
